ICS will always have a special place in heart. My parents took me there in 1996 to adopt a cat for my birthday. I wanted an adult cat since I knew many people wanted kittens. A grey and black tiger striped cat came over to me and sat on my lap, purring for all she was worth. She chose me; I did not choose her. When I had to get up to sign the papers, she dug her claws into my jeans, not wanting to let go. So Andrea Sue, renamed Asti, went home with me. She was such a goofball and I have many pictures of the funny things she did. She brought me much joy and is the best birthday present I. The hardest thing I had to do was leave with my parents when I entered the convent. But she remembered her mommy when I came back home on visits. She went home to her Creator in 2008. I still miss my little PudgeCat.. Thank you, ICS, for all you do.

We picked up Penelope and Angel 03-28-09. We originally only thought of bringing one cat home (Penelope) but took Angel too as they were brought in together. We keep saying THANK GOODNESS we took them both! Angel is THE most affectionate cat we ever had! The very 1st day (after a couple of hours) I laid down and Angel came right up to me and curled under my arm! What a sweetheart! Penny is a beauty but also a little more reserved with the affection...at least for now. I'll send more up-dates later.

We just wanted to update you on our wonderful new family! My husband and I came in last September with the intention to adopt two cats and ended up with three! Church, Phoenix and Mabel. Three incredible cats that are such a joy. I will be posting some pics as soon as I download from the camera! Mabel wasn't too sure about the boys at first, but soon established herself as queen bee! Everyone sleeps with us so the bed gets very crowded. Phoenix is my cuddler, Mabel cuddles with my husband, and Church goes back and forth! We have a wonderful family of three very happy cats. Thank you to everyone at ICS. We are blessed.

We came to the ICS to find a young male for our boy OZ to be a "budby" to after losing our other male Spike. We almost lost faith as we did not find one. We had almost left until I saw the kittens in KIKIs room. They were so beautiful, I fell in love immediately. There were three "special" ones that I liked best of all. We couldn't decide on one, so we took all three! Now, Winter, Sonny and Bunny, (renamed Anubis, Sala and Seti), live in our home with their older siblings Oz, Angel and Willow. Thank you ICS for your loving care and concern for these beautiful furbabies. I hope I can assist you in your efforts, as a patron and supporter of your program. Thank you for our new babies.

Thank you so much for your story "There Are No Unadoptable Cats". I fell in love with Sophie, who is blind, as soon as I met her! While I was at the shelter I saw a tiny, shy face hiding in a blanket. Her name is Star. When she first came home she wouldn't let anyone pet her. It took a few months, but slowly she began to trust. Now she loves to snuggle! Star spent years at the shelter, being passed up because of her shyness. Sophie was passed up because of her blindness. I feel so lucky that I found such sweet and loving cats!

I can't wait to adopt Nilla and Chip on Saturday! I wouldn't have normally thought of the names Nilla and Chip, but they are going to keep those names. They will love to snoop in our home with our cat, Gobby. I have already purchased collars for Chip and Nilla and also picked up a matching one for Gobby so he won't feel left out. He actually likes wearing it as he looked offended when I removed it to resize it.

Finally somewhere kitties can be safe. I wish there were many more places like this and there was much MUCH more room for all kitties in need.

My mom recently adopted an ICS cat, and she just loves her! Paige is such a great cat--loving, friendly, playful, etc. It's wonderful to have the ICS to take care of the cats before they're adopted. :)

I will be adopting a cat tomorrow after visiting twice and enjoying the loving staff & friendliest cats I've ever met! :)

I have been visiting the ics on weekends for some time now. I have finally decided that we were ready to adopt two cats. We are hoping to be able to bring K.C. and Reggie home this weekend. I have had so many people tell me that it is so much cheaper and easier to get a free cat out of the paper. But I have chosen to come to the society because of how well I see the cats are treated and how much the volunteers care. It has made me open my heart and home to two new kitties. Thanks volunteers for all you do.

Hello, I recently performed community service at ICS. My last day there, I took a few video clips in some of the cat rooms (I couldn't resist, they were all so adorable!) I thought I would share the compiled video with you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNF_An9P-mc This is the link to the video posted on YouTube. I enjoyed my time at ICS and I hope to come back as a volunteer when I am finished with this semester at Purdue!

I am so glad that someone is giving care to these wonderful animals and showing appreciation to them in such a misunderstanding world. Two summers ago, I lost my Dani, my tabby kitty with an 'M' on his forehead (which i found out means merle). I spent the whole summer and fall looking for him without success. I am still hopeful that maybe someone took him into their home and gave him more love than i ever could (which would be hard). I am here wanting to volunteer for this organization in his stead; i'm sure he would want that. It so saddens my heart to think that he is gone. I will always miss you, Dani. You were more than a cat. You were my friend.

I'm saddened to hear of horrors that Hope and many other animals endure. Thank God for angels like you who come along. My tortie Angie who I adopted 13 years ago passed on this past May. I miss her dearly. My other 4 cat keep me company. I don't know what I'd do without them.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know Sammie is doing great! She has adjusted well to our household and is a very loving friend for my son and me! Patrick kisses her head every time he sees her, he just loves her! I want to compliment you on the excellent care you give the cats. Sammie is very healthy with a thick, shiny coat and bright eyes. Thanks for everything!

Hi- I wanted to drop a line to ICS, and especially Roberta, to let everyone know that Dewey is doing great. He has run of the house, eats like a horse, loves my son (they are inseparable). He still hugs when anxious (like thunderstorms) and snores louder than my husband ... but wouldn't change him for anything. He has been a blessing to our home. I will be sending photos soon. Thanks again... He is an adorable cat and we're so happy we adopted him!!

I worked there for about 2 years and saw many cats go to good homes. The workers do a great job. Kim and Beth Ann, thanks for loving all of them, and thanks for all of the great work days we had together.

Marmalade is very happy. He is very close to my Mom. Sometimes he sits on my lap, but he is normally on my Moms lap.

It has been a year since we brought Sophie and Star home. They are both doing well. You would be amazed by how brave Star is now! She loves to sit next to me when I read. She is not shy anymore when she wants attention, she will ask for it! She follows Sophie around everywhere! They like to curl up together and chase each other around the house! They are both so sweet!

I'm so glad you stepped in for Hope and I'm even happier that you're holding Mayor Oberlie to task for allowing this to happen. Yes, he has ALLOWED this to happen because of his disinterest in animal welfare in Michigan City. Ask him how the Dog Fighting Task Force is coming along! That was one of his campaign promises the first time he ran for office and when I questioned him about it after he was elected (when he appeared on Channel 97 for a call-in interview), both Oberlie and the show's host seemed annoyed that I would call-in with such a trivial question!! In other words, there is NO task force and dog fighting is alive and well in Michigan City under Oberlie's watch. Education isn't what is needed in the case of animal abuse. Those children know exactly what they're doing when they hurt animals. It's the lack of fear of prosecution or punishment that allows this type of thing to continue. Money doesn't need to be put into education... it needs to be put into policing and prosecution!

I was named Rio at ICS but my mom recognized that I was Italian! So, my middle name is Italian...my Mom thinks that I am so cool. I have a cat sister named Nami Fiona. If you remember me from the Playpen room, you'll remember me as a real shy, skittish guy. I am getting less and less shy as time goes on. I sleep with my parents and my sister and I now ask to be petted. I like my new house. Thanks for taking care of me. Leo Allesandro Marion (formerly 'Rio')

Hi everyone!!! I am loving my new furever home. Did you know there is a kitty named Brooke here that used to live with you too? She loves to play with me now, but she wasn't so sure at first....we've made a race track out of the entire house and just jump over Splash when he's in our way. We played in the Christmas tree too, my beans (human beings) laughed when I climbed around in there. So Happy New Year to everyone and here's to finding furever homes for all my buddies back at the ICS.

I enjoyed browsing your very organized and attractive website. Your info on each kitty is outstanding. Keep up the great work. You are an inspiration to all.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say a great big "THANKS" to everyone for having me around until I found my new home! I love it here! Splash is my new buddy here and while I know he's older than me, he likes to play just as much as I do. I couldn't be happier here and know I found my home for a lifetime!

Message From: Billy & Tilly now Pretty Boy & Sissy September 12, 2006
Hello there! I don't know if you guys remember these little kitties - Billy was a quiet boy who usually stayed in the back of our cage - Tilly was a crazy cat who would fly out of the cage as soon as it was opened roght onto your shoulder! They are now Pretty Boy and Sissy. Sissy has calmed down quite a bit - she is a loving caretaker. She is actually the calmer of the two! The only time she gets carzy is if you are reading insttead of talking to her. Pretty Boy is our fraidy cat - the poor thing has self esteem issues - seriously - BUT he officially became a lap cat Septmeber 2006 - it took about a year but he did it! Thank you so much for all you do - you guys are so wonderful! We feel we have the best kitties in the world and know it is because you guys provide such loving care.

I just wanted to check in. I'm missing all the kitties being out here in Phoenix! I've been wondering about a few of them and whether or not they had found a family yet. My kitty passed away in November. He had kidney failure. But he lived a darn good 17 years. I hope all kitties are doing well. Please give Rocky, Patience, and Capone a giant hug for me. (if you can hug Patience or Rocky without getting attitude!)
